Direct Line Group Joins Compare the Market

This month, the Direct Line Insurance Group have announced that their UK motor insurance products – which are distributed by Churchill, among other UK providers – will soon be a part of the price comparison website, Compare the Market. (No doubt you will have seen those irritatingly catchy ‘Compare the Meerkat’ adverts at some point.)

Insurance in the UK is increasingly being purchased with the help of price comparison websites, and Compare the Market is one of the most popular price comparison websites in the country. Comparison sites offer customers a great way to directly compare the prices of the insurance policies they’re looking at.

Paul Geddes, CEO of the Direct Line Group, says that “Direct Line Group provides customers with a range of brands, channels, products and services that best address their needs or choices. I’m delighted that this agreement extends our multi-channel distribution strategy, making some of our products more widely accessible to a larger market. This partnership supports our retail general insurance strategy and gives even more customers more choice in how they can acess some of the leading household brands in our portfolio.”

In other words, partnering with price comparison websites works out better for both the insurance provider and the customer; the provider can be sure that they’re getting their insurance packages seen by a wider audience, while customers can compare Churchill insurance directly against similar packages, in order to make an informed decision about which package to opt for.

Meanwhile, Paul Galligan, MD at Compare the Market, says that “Adding leading Direct Line brands such as Churchill and Privilege further strengthens our offering and means that our customers can receive great prices from an even wider range of insurers, all in one easy to use comparison service. We are delighted to have them on board.”
